"Tolerationist" ?
"Tolerate", as defined in Webster's Dictionary; 1. to allow; permit; not interfere with. 2. to recognize and respect (others beliefs and practices, etc.) without necessarily agreeing or sympathizing. 3. to put up with; bear. Also defined in Webster, "Tolerance", as; 1. a tolerating or being tolerant, especially of others' views, beliefs, practices, etc; freedom from bigotry or prejudice..." And then we have "Toleration", defined as; tolerance; especially , freedom of religious worship; freedom to hold religious views that differ from the established ones. Thus we arrive at the term "Tolerationist", defined as; a person who advocates toleration, especially in religious matters. The action and momentum of these words are speeding along full force in this world, and especially in this country! The " I'm ok, you're ok" mentality is rapidly spreading into the minds, and hearts, of many Americans, and it's really not ok! I wonder if people stop to think about who governs the laws of "tolerance". It certainly has its boundries, depending on whom you are speaking too. In other words, there ARE no boundries to tolerance! The world(people) makes it up as it goes along, with each generation becoming more and more saturated with beliefs and behavior that used to be unacceptable. Untolerated. Tolerance has become the worlds defining "belief system", and as such, (referencing the above definitions) it leans on nothing, believes in anything, and tolerates everything. Thus, the life of a "tolerationist" is consumed by making sure that every relationship they have is based on both parties accepting acknowledgment of one anothers "belief system", being based on nothing, believing in anything, and tolerating everything. Experiencially speaking, as a bible believing christian, these people can be the first to reject you. They throw daggers of criticism at your life because you are so firmly rooted and grounded in your beliefs to the degree that you are convinced, committed, and unmovable! You are on solid ground, and, oh how the spirit of tolerence hates that! It aggravates and frustrates those who are decieved into thinking they can live thier lives to the fullest thinking, "I'm ok and you're ok, and we will accept one another on the grounds that there IS NO ground, and we will go thru life seperately, together. We will believe anything we want on any given day, as long as we "feel ok" about it, but even if we don't, we'll tolerate everything that anyone wants us to, as long as they, to, tolerate us". This is a very serious matter and lives are at risk here with this pattern of thinking. Eternal lives! I almost lost my life to this "worldly belief system", and although I have been saved and pulled out of it, I led a very miserable life because of it! I hope to share more of my heart on this in another blog entry soon. There is much to ponder, and much that God has to say on this, in His Word. Good night.

I LOVE you, Mary Ellen! Hope you are having a great birthday! Each day is a blessing from God, and He loves YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Mary Ellen, I do not criticize nor condemn nor judge others for thier beliefs. If I did, then would your term 'bigot' perhaps be applicable to my life. But it isn't. My heart aches and grieves for people who are lost and decieved and cannot find thier way in this world, and I embrace them, not thier beliefs, with a heart that comes from my Fathers love. Lack of tolerance does not mean lack of Gods love! I love them enough to speak Gods truth. I love you so much, honey, and miss you intensely!! Mom
What makes me sad is when people take a "holier than thou" stance on everything they do. Jesus embraced everyone and tried to spread His word, not make people feel bad for not listening. Jesus proclaimed himself the son of God but also admitted he was a man that sinned like you and me. To emmulate Jesus is to be man, a sinner. To emmulate God is impossible, and blasphemous.
Having gone to a Catholic high school and learned theology from an 80 year old monk, I was taught a few things... 1.) The Bible isnt to be taken literally. It's a guideline that man is to interpret as it was written by men. Is the earth 6000 years old? Are dinosaurs an elaborate hoax being put on by the Devil? Anyone with any common sense know the answers to these questions... 2.) Live your life, not someone elses. Believe what you believe, but dont condemn those who arent in agreement. Organized religion has had trouble with this in the past (witch hunts killing hundreds of thousands in the name of God, religous wars killing millions etc.). Can you say that if you could snap your fingers and make everyone christian, that you wouldnt do it? Isnt that what you are all trying to do? Unfortunately murder is now illegal so I guess blogs and facecious comments are all we have left... 3.) Tolerance is necessary for human co-existence. Intolerance is what starts wars and has killed millions. How can you with a straight face denounce tolerance? I tolerate those that I love when they make me upset, only because I love them. Isnt tolerance part of love? Jesus was tolerant enough to let the Romans crucify him. The most tolerant being in the universe is God himself! How could He give us free will and not be?!?! Those that are so self righteous (holier than thou) are the most intolerant and consequently the farthest from the truth. The truth being we are all here on earth together and if we cant agree than agree to disagree. God doesnt award brownie points the last time I checked for being self righteous and intolerant. But what do I, or Father Martin know? Surely not as much as thou.
Wow! That was a mouthful from an anonymous poster. I would think that someone who had so much to say would at least be bold enough to state their name.
Dear Anonymous, thanks for sharing, and now I have some really awesome, great news to share with you! JESUS NEVER SINNED!! He gave Himself at the cross as the Perfect sacrifice FOR ALL OF THE WORLDS SINS!! Jesus PAID THE PRICE, for us, by His death!!! The grave couldn't hold Him, and He is ALIVE!! Right here, right now, He's waiting for you to ask Him to come into your life! Just ask. Eternal life is a free gift. It's already been bought and paid for by Jesus's blood! He loves you, friend, and He DIED for YOU!!
Well said my precious wife. Jesus love us all and I love you! Eternal life is having a personal relationship with this precious Jesus! John 17:3
Mr. Anonymous Jesus loves you too, and so do I (Cindy and I) Jesus cannot tolerate sin, so He died for us all, so He could forgive our sin, He was the perfect, sinless, spotless, Lamb of God! Know Jesus, Know Peace, No Jesus, No peace.
Mary Ellen, you are most welcome in our home! It blessed me when you and Brian( is he Mr. Anonymous) came to our wedding. We had a wonderful Memorial Weekend with Carly and Joshua and their families staying here and hope that you can come to the next get together! Have a blessed week!
